As my story is given as a myth for my culture, I wanted to address what a myth is.
A myth is a guiding story.
It is fictitious story written as sacred literature and told to help people navigate the unending abyss of experience toward a certain societal vision. Myths can live for thousands of years. At that point, the myth has often become a crystallized reality that has taken over the collective imagination by choice or often with religion, by force. Religion creates an illusion as it mandates certain beliefs to benefit existing systems. Often, new myths are created to help shatter such illusions. They free up imaginative energies trapped in a mirror house of abstract systems that have formed around the old one. New myths provide the opportunity to redirect our energies and transform our world.
